Edgar Smith

Edgar Franklin Smith, 63, of Alba, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at home. He was born September 7, 1945, in Newberry, to Herman and Maxine (Calkins) Smith. On April 22, 1972, he married Susan Mills. Edgar worked at Buick in Flint for a short time and then went to work for Michigan CAT for 34 years. He retired in 2002. He proudly served in the National Guard for 6 years and was active in the Detroit riots. Edgar loved to hunt and fish 24/7. He was always kind and thoughtful to everyone and was always teaching people good things. Edgar loved to spend time with his grandkids and family. He is survived by his wife Susan of 37 years, son Keith (Kristi) Smith of Canton, daughters Kristina (John) Cooper of Midland, Kathy (Donnie) of Kinross, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, siblings Inah, Gail, Lynn, sister in law Belinda, mother in law Dorothy Mills, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Edgar is predeceased by his mother, father, and brothers Alfred and Herman. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
