EARL CASTLE

EARL "BUD" CASTLE II, 62, of Alden, died on August 6, 2011 at home. Bud was born on July 8, 1949 in Pontiac, MI., the son of Earl and Earline (Beach) Castle. Bud was a long time resident of Alden who enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and gardening. He was a past member of the Mancelona American Legion and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On December 26, 1971, in Mancelona, he married Barbara Sandeen who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, E.J. ( Julie) Castle of Bellaire, Tom (Traci) Castle of Petoskey, 2 grandchildren, Jossie and Jater Castle of Bellaire, 3 sisters, Kitrina "Kitty" (Mike) VanMeter of Keego Harbor, MI., Peggy Findley of Kalkaska, Shirley Castle (Duane Miller) of Kalkaska, a brother Bill Castle of Kalkaska and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Robert Sandeen and 2 brothers-in-law Dave Sandeen and John Felton. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Todd Shafer will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Helena Township Cemetery, Alden. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
