Doyle Everet Warner, Jr., aged 74, passed away on June 26, 2024 at his home in Boyne City. He was born on February 8th, 1950 to Doyle L. and Bernice (Stone) Warner and was the oldest of nine children. He graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1968 and resided in northern Michigan for the majority of his life where he spent 46 years working at East Jordan Iron Works until his retirement in 2014.
Doyle was an avid outdoor enthusiast and spent countless hours hunting and fishing throughout Michigan, Alaska, and North America. One of his greatest joys was taking his kids and grandkids hunting and fishing. Throughout his life, Doyle frequently commented how fortunate he was to have the opportunity to travel around and share experiences. He spent lots of time in Michigan and Alaska, but also Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, Alberta, Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, and Wisconsin.
Wisconsin was a special place for Doyle, and he enjoyed taking many of his grandkids there for deer hunting. He was especially proud of playing a part in the first buck for so many of his grandkids. Doyle genuinely loved his annual deer camp trip to Drummond Island, and cherished the time spent over the years with family and friends. Stories and laughter followed Doyle to every camp and they will be dearly missed. Harwood Lake was simply Doyle’s happy place; he spent over 65 years fishing there. Many an evening was spent sitting on the ice, staring at a bobber, hoping to catch some tasty bluegills for supper. Later in life, Doyle spent as much time as possible playing in the woods and waters of Alaska chasing adventure. He and Kathleen held Eagle Creek near Coffman Cove as a special place in their hearts.
Doyle was also a devoted gardener, and he took pride in the fact he always had the most beautiful gardens around. While the size of the gardens may have shrunk as Doyle’s free labor moved on and there were less mouths to feed, he still planted gardens big enough to feed a small country. Giving away his delicious home grown veggies filled him with joy.
Doyle is survived by his wife Kathleen Louise Gill Warner; his mother, Bernice Warner; children Kelly (Jeremy) Neeser, Mitchell (Melissa) Dykstra, Kristi (David) Sedlock, Everet “Rick” Warner, Michael (Sarah) Warner, Amanda (Jason) Terryberry, and step-sons Brad and Andrew Louiselle; grandchildren Jonathon (Katrina), Kaylee, Joshuah, Charles, Annelise, Thomas, John, Amanda, Nikki, Lane, Chase, Hailey, Cole, Jack, and Wyatt; brothers Ken, Brian, Kelly, and Bradley; sisters Donna (Marc) Cross, Patti (Terry) Left, and Melissa Shay Warner; as well as seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Doyle was preceded in death by his father Doyle Sr., wife Debra, infant son Doyle Kevin, and brother Gaery.
A Celebration of Doyle's Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21st at the Barnard Grange, 15975 Klooster Rd., Charlevoix, MI 49720.
