Doyle O'Neal

Doyle Julius O'Neal went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2011, joining his parents, two brothers, Jack and Woodson O'Neal and three sisters, Olga Shaver, Goldie Wallace and Maxine Harrison. He was born on April 23, 1921 to Jeff O'Neal and Cora Redford O'Neal in Blanchard, Oklahoma. He was raised by Jay O'Neal and his mother Cora Redford O'Neal. Doyle proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from Dec. 7, 1942 through June 14, 1945. He married his beloved wife, Constance Webb, on November 21, 1946 in Phoenix, AZ. They moved to Michigan in 1947 where they raised their family of five children. He was a member of Plumbers Local 98 and VFW Torch Post 6985. He would have been a mason for 50 years in June. He transferred his membership from Ferndale to the Central Lake Masonic Lodge #426 in 1982 and was Master of the lodge and mason of the year in 1989. He was also a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for 24 years and a member of Snowflake Spiritualist Church Camp for approximately 42 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Constance O'Neal; five children, Bonnie (James) Campbell of Clarkston, Diana (Jonathan) Schimke of Mio, Peggy (Jamie) Shafer of Bellaire, Robert (Kimberly) O'Neal of Central Lake, and James (Jodi) O'Neal of Bellaire; sixteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Rev. Gloria Ward officiating with Masonic Rites. The burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona with military honors. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. also at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
