Douglas Sexton

Douglas G. Sexton, 59, of Bellaire died peacefully, Sept. 17, 2013 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. He was born May 19, 1954 in Bellaire the son of Eugene and Nancy (Blasidell) Sexton. Doug lived life to the fullest and was always a very kind and generous person. He loved kids and always had time to share with them. Riding his Harley "1960 Panhead" was a very special love to him. He enjoyed riding with friends and riding alone. Doug looked forward to camping with family and friends at the Grand Marais music festival every year. He also looked forward to summers so he could spend his time at Torch Lake sailing, taking boat rides on his pontoon and sitting on the shores looking at the beautiful colors and hearing the waves crashing. Doug loved his animals. His dogs Chump and Sally Ann were his constant companions and he spent many hours enjoying nature with his horses Billy and Fred. For over 25 years Doug worked in the oil field for a number of casing crews as a tong operator. He met many of his lifelong friends in these jobs. Surviving Doug are his brother Pat Sexton of Kalkaska, sister Debbie Sexton-Lull of Bellaire, special friend Christine White of Alden, nephews and nieces Scott (Jody) Sexton of Kalkaska, Christina (Al) Balko of Nashville, TN, Nicole Lull of Grand Rapids, Michael (Rachel) Lull of Mt. Vernon, WA, Sarah Sexton of Kalkaska, great nephews and nieces Hailee and Lucas, Aiden and Spencer, many aunts, uncles, cousins, an friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and sister in law Jacqueline M. Sexton. Memorial services will be held Wed. October 9, at 11 a.m. at Kearney Township Hall with spiritual director Jim Cousineau presiding. Interment will be in Flewelling Cemetery on Ritt Rd.
