Dorothy "Dotty" Warsow, of Vanderbilt, MI passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes, Sun. Feb. 5, 2012, at the age of 89. She was born June 17, 1922, in Detroit, the daughter of Russell and Gladys (Watkinson) Watrous. Dotty was an accomplished musician. She played the organ, piano and accordion. She shared her passion for music with many students, friends, children and grandchildren; teaching them in studios and her homes. In her later years she enjoyed playing for McReynolds Hall and Wolverine Senior Center. In 1976 Dotty moved to Vanderbilt. She had a great sense of humor and was very generous to the community she lived in. She loved animals and the outdoors; even raising deer on her Vanderbilt property. Dotty was very independent, shoveling her own snow and roof, cleaning the chimney, and fixing her house. She was a Lioness, enjoyed canning, cake decorating, and was an absolutely great cook. She is survived by her children Marvin (Elizabeth) Warsow of Marysville, TN, Carolyn (David) Sharkey of Vanderbilt, grandchildren Renee (Rob) DeLong, Dale (Kathy) Warsow, Tony (Teresa) Sharkey, Penny (Jon) Kohns, great grandchildren Joseph, Alexandra Grace, Annabelle, David, Taylor, Austin, Angela, Kayla, Mitchell, sister-n-law Nancy Watrous, and special niece Darlene (Bob) Hatherly. Dotty was preceded in death by her parents, baby sibling Watrous, siblings Russell (Mary) Watrous, Chuck Watrous, Thelma (Bill) Balzer, grandson Michael in 2005. Funeral services will be held Sat. Feb. 18, at 3 p.m., at Vanderbilt Community Church with Dr. Jonathan Kohns officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the celebration service. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Those wishing to make contributions in memory of "Dotty" are encouraged to make them to McReynolds Hall, Gaylord MI or the Gaylord Animal Shelter in memory of Dotty Warsow.
