Dorothy Thompson

Dorothy H. Thompson, 84, of Central Lake, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Charlevoix Area Hospital.

She was born January 8, 1930 in Detroit to Enos and Marie (Dawson) Hopp.

On March 3, 1951 she married Charles I. 'Skip' Thompson Jr. in Detroit. They made their home in Central Lake. Skip died in 2010.

Dorothy was employed at Circuit Control in East Jordan and Central Lake Industries in Central Lake. She was active in the Central Lake Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She enjoyed antiques, garage sales, bowling and square dancing.

Surviving are her sons Michael J. Thompson of Central Lake and Charles I. (Christine) Thompson III of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Nicole Marie Thompson of Gaylord and Charles Scott (Twila) Thompson of Dallas, Texas; great-grandson Charles G. Thompson and step-great-granddaughter Kayla Huedka. Brothers: Stuart Banister, Richard (Mary) Allen of Central Lake, sister Viola (Henry) Wahl of Monterey, TN, sisters-in-law: Eleanor Girard of Livonia, Marisa Hopp of Portland, MI, Patricia Hopp of Rutland, VT, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded by brothers: William Hopp, George Hopp and Donald Hopp.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 2 p.m at Southern Cemetery.
