Dorothy Stites

Dorothy Jean Stites, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and Bousha, passed away Monday, February 24th, surrounded by her loving family.  Dorothy was one of 13 children, born December 21st, 1932 in Cedar, MI to Frank and Bertha Winowiecki.  She married Harold L. Stites in 1952.  They were married for 68 years and together had five children.

Dorothy was a caretaker by nature.  Whether it be for her family, friends or community members, it was her true passion in life.  She loved to play Euchre, cook big family breakfasts and giggle with her great grandchildren.  Her smile was infectious and will be greatly missed.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Harold L. Stites; children; Debbie (Kirk) Hubbell, Craig (Karen) Stites, Mark Stites and Greg Stites; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and sisters; Jackie (Gerald) Clark, Teresa Weber, and Martha (Red) Larkins.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Lynn, her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids, with Rev Robert J. Zuchowski presiding.  Please join her family to share memories of Dorothy at a luncheon to follow.
