Dorothy June d'Entremont, 82, of Ellsworth, MI, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2015, at the Elk Rapids Assisted Living facility. She was born on New Year's Eve, 1932, in Hazel Park, Michigan, the daughter of Lambert and Alice (Zylstra) Docter. She grew up in Hazel Park and Royal Oak. She pursued studies in both music and education, earning a BS from Wayne State University and an MA from Oakland University. She taught elementary school for 27 years in the Walled Lake school system. She played (and loved) both piano and organ all her life.
In 1952, she married Hiram Jones, her high school sweetheart, who became a pastor. Together, they pastored Union Lake Baptist Church, in Commerce Township, MI, for 28 years. They had two daughters, Pamela and Patricia. After a 40-year marriage, Hiram passed away in 1992. Then, in 1995, Dorothy married Albert d'Entremont, who survives her. Theirs was a 20-year marriage, during which they ran Lake Michigan's Abiding Place, a Bed & Breakfast, in their home in Ellsworth, "on the Bay, west of Atwood" for 8 years. They volunteered with Wycliffe Bible Translators for 7 years, and spent one of those years in France, managing a guest house for them. Dorothy was blessed with two long, good marriages, and two men were blessed to call her "my wife".
Dorothy had an older brother, Lester Docter, now deceased. She is survived by her husband, Albert, her two daughters, Pamela Awtrey Harrington and Patricia Warman, son-in-law Doug Warman, and six grandchildren, Megan Awtrey, Elisabeth Awtrey, Jacob Warman, Laura Warman, Matthew Warman, and Hannah (Warman) Nkeulia and her husband Franck. A nephew, Lawrence Docter, and a niece, Shirley Hawreschuk, also survive her.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Eastport Baptist Church, where she and Al are members. Pastor Jerry Troyer will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday, July 13, from 6-8 PM at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, and at the church one hour before the service. Burial will take place at a later date, in Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, in Novi, MI. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Please sign her online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com .
Dorothy is with the Lord she has always loved. We have lost, but she has gained. And we who love the Lord will see her (and Him) again!
