Dorothea Kelley

Dorothea (Taylor) Kelley, 95, of Charlevoix, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Masonic Pathways in Alma. Visitation will begin at 11 am, Saturday, March 5, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, followed by the funeral at 1 pm. The Reverend Greg Culver of the Charlevoix United Methodist Church will officiate, and a service will be presented by the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #72, Charlevoix. Burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix.

Dorothea was born August 28, 1920, in Charlevoix, to Walter and Ella (Matchett) Taylor. After graduating from Charlevoix High School, Dorothea attended Detroit School of Cosmetology. She returned to Charlevoix and worked at Dode's Beauty Shop.

Dorothea married Robert E. Kelley in Charlevoix on September 23, 1944. The Kelleys lived in Bay City for thirty-five years. In 1983, Dorothea and Bob returned to Charlevoix.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Charlevoix, the Charlevoix Area Hospital Auxiliary, and a life member of Charlevoix Chapter #72, Order of the Eastern Star.

Dorothea is survived by her son Kim of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Justin (Kristy) Kelley of Gaylord, Melissa Kelley and Sean Kelley of Bay City; sister, Elaine Martin of Charlevoix; niece, Sherri (Larry) Greer of Edmore; nephews, C.T. (Francie) Martin of Charlevoix, Kevin (Jane) Martin of Bahrain.
