Doris Shuman

Doris Jean Shuman, 96, of Charlevoix, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024. 

Doris was born on April 7, 1928, in Romulus, Michigan, and grew up in Wayne, MI. Doris graduated from Wayne High School. On October 8th, 1955, she married the love of her life, Richard T. Shuman, and together they raised two children. Doris dedicated herself to caring for her family before later working at the family dealership, Shuman Chrysler Jeep, in Walled Lake, MI. She and Richard shared a love of cars. Doris also loved traveling. Switzerland held a special place in her heart, as she had visited it three times. Doris enjoyed golfing, exercise class, spending time with her family, and sharing in her husband's interest in cars. Richard and Doris were true Tigers fans. 

Doris was surrounded by love throughout her life. She is survived by her daughter, Holly, and husband, Ed Russell; her son, Bob, and wife, Sherry Shuman; and her treasured grandchildren, Michael, Kathleen (Bryan Escalante), Ethan (Bastian Groitl), and Hannah (Pat Lyons). Brother; Tommy (Barbara) and sisters-in-law; Elaine and Carol.

Doris was preceded in death by husband, Richard, and her siblings Raymond Cockrum, Evelyn (Cockrum) Francis, Aletha (Cockrum) Barker, Ethel (Cockrum) Doran, Robert Cockrum, and Harold Cockrum.

Doris will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
