Doris Shooks

Doris Jean Shooks, 92, of Central Lake, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in Bellaire.

She was born December 23, 1925 to Henry and Floretta (Cass) Wynsma in Banks Township.

On May 10, 1946 she married Marvin Shooks in Banks Township They lived on the Shooks farm in Central Lake Township. Marvin died in 1999.

Doris enjoyed helping on the farm beside Marv. She served as Central Lake Township clerk for many years. She loved music, played the organ, sang in the choir and enjoyed numerous church activities. Doris enjoyed spending time with family.

Surviving are her children Rhonda (Dave) Lemma of Houghton Lake, Daryl (Cheryl) Shooks of Central Lake, Joel (Kristan) Shooks of Traverse City, and daughter-in-law Darla Shooks of Central Lake; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and her sister Esther Klooster of Rockford. She was preceded in death by a son, Dale Shooks.

Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at First Congregational Church in Central Lake with the Rev. Gary Bekkering officiating. Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery.
