Doris M. McDowell,  94, of Central Lake, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 2, 2021.  She was born on October 2, 1926, the daughter of Doyle and Harriet (Dawson) Morse.

Doris was so thankful for the many shopping trips with her daughter Glo Bloom and friend Marcella Buffman.   She also enjoyed her weekly hair appointments and getting her nails done.  She cherished every moment she spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, and many other family members.   She loved spending her winters in Florida with her son Mel McDowell.  She also loved going to church and her faith never wavered.

Doris is survived by 5 children, Melvin McDowell of Middleburg, FL, Mervin McDowell (Judy Taskey) of Central Lake, Gloria (Vic) Bloom of Central Lake, Cheryl Essenberg of Ellsworth, Rita (Bob) Wilson of Central Lake, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, her twin Dorothy Hill of Traverse City, Karen (Doug) Baker of Gladwin, MI and many other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband Logan McDowell Jr., her grandson Jeffrey Wilson, 2 sisters, Betty McPherson, Verna Morris, infant brother David Doyle Morse, her parents her daughter in laws Diana McDowell and Sue McDowell, and son in law Lester Essenberg.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grace Community Church in Central Lake.   Pastor James Hagler will officiate.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Burial will take place at a later date in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.
