Doris May Mason 93 of Bellaire went home to be with her Savior on October 18, 2018 at Munson Medical Center. She was born July 28, 1925 the daughter of Deo and Ida (Baxter) Bunker.
Doris graduated from Pontiac High School in 1943 and attended Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota the following fall.
She graduated in 1946 with a degree in General Bible.
On Sept 6, 1946 at the Wesleyan Church in Ellsworth, MI she married Earl Mason. Doris held a variety of jobs during her working years. In Flint, she worked as a cashier in a local grocery store and at AC Sparkplug. She worked at the Colton Plant in Mancelona, making dies for pharmaceutical companies and then went to work for Mt Clemens Metal products, and stayed there for 5-6 years. Doris ended her career working for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1987.
Doris loved to read and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to sing and taught all of her children to sing as well. Spending time with her family was most important to her; the bigger the party the happier she was.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Lois (Daryl) Kaley of Ellsworth, Paul (Sheryl) Mason of Howard City, Gloria (Alden) Palmer of Fife Lake, Steve (Sandy) Mason of Lake City, and Phil (Michelle) Mason of Kentwood, a sister Dorothy Cornett, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, grandson Chris Kaley, her parents, and her beloved dog, Sammy.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 23, at 11 a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Caleb Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Good Samaritan Family Services, PO BOX 206, Ellsworth, MI 49729.
