Doris Dawson

Doris M. Dawson 93, of Central Lake, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at the Culver Meadows Adult Foster Care Home near Traverse City. Doris was born May 16, 1915, the daughter of William and Marie (Thompson) Oliver. She resided in Central Lake most of her life, living in Lansing for twenty years where she was a beautician. She moved back to Central Lake and worked for Torch Printing and also for Bachmann's Variety Store. She enjoyed Quilting, knitting and sewing and was a past member of the Central Lake Rebekah Lodge. She was also a long time member of the Grace Community Church. On August 3, 1932 in Central Lake, she married Versile Dawson who preceded her in death in 1996. Also preceding her in death were a brother Howard Oliver and a sister Betty Zook. Surviving are three sons, Versile Jr. "Hap" (Sylvia) Dawson of Bellaire, Larry (Laraine) Dawson of Beaver Island, William Dawson of Central Lake, a brother Harold (Janet) Oliver of Central Lake, three sisters, Nina Pallister of Zepherhills, FL, Ruth Purdy of Central Lake, Helen Derenzy of Central Lake, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the spring on May 2, 2009 at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Rev. Max Tracey officiating. Interment will follow at Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Community Church, P.O. Box 400, Central Lake, MI 49622.
