Dora Lee Willis, 60, formerly of Northport, passed away at her home near Bay Shore Saturday, December 19, 2015. She was born June 18, 1955, in Petoskey, to John Raymond and Christine Marie (Coby) Willis. Dora graduated from Gaylord High School in 1973, and attended Northern Michigan University.
Dora worked in Tribal Government for the Grand Traverse Band of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians, and for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.
She was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians. Dora enjoyed bead-working and attending pow-wows with friends. She loved spending time with her Jack Russells, Munchkin, Pippin, and Merri. She was a caring and loving lady that would help anyone in need.
She is survived by her brothers, Curtis D. Willis of Balmor, N.J., Ronald R. Willis of Homer; nieces and nephews, Marie, Christina, Joyce, Rebecca, William, Corey, Jodi, P.J., Phillip, Butch, John, Tammy, Terri, Roger, Tiffany, Ron Jr., and Stacy. Dora was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Coby and John R. Willis, Jr.; and sisters, Judy McMillan, and Nellie Harmon.
Visitation will begin at 11 am, Monday, January 4, 2016, at Greensky Hill Indian United Methodist Church in Charlevoix. The funeral will begin at 1 pm, and the Reverend Samuel McClellan will officiate. Burial will be in Greensky Hill Cemetery.
