Donna Simons

Dr. Donna Huffman Simons, 69, of Alba passed away April 14, 2018 with family by her side. Donna was born 5/20/1948 to Donald and Thelma Huffman.

Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church, a past member of the Star Township Fire Board, and most recently a member of the Alba School Board. Donna or Doc as the kids liked to call her was a very big factor in helping the kids out in the school. She spent many hours tutoring the kids and helping put on the school musicals.

Donna owned and operated Simons Vet Clinic until her retirement in 2010.

Donna is survived by son-in-law Pete (Phyllis) Hoogerhyde, Jr. of Alba, daughter Deann (Scott) Messinger of Flint, grandson Daryn (Anna) Hoogerhyde of Alba, granddaughter Kayla (Michael) Black of S. Carolina, grandson Charles Williams of Mancelona, brother Dale Huffman of Flint and two very special great-granddaughters Adrianna and Sutton Hoogerhyde of Alba.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Thelma Huffman and her daughter Dawn Alea Holtz.

There will be a graveside service at the Star Township Cemetery on May 16, 2018 at 5 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the Alba Public School music program.

Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
