Donna McMasters

Donna Kay McMasters, 66 of Gaylord, died peacefully, Nov. 12, 2014 at home, after a valiant fight with ALS. She was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Lansing, the daughter of Bertil and Norine (French) Froberg. On Sept. 19, 1970 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena, she married Michael P. McMasters. Donna graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan. She worked for over 30 years as a physical therapist at several locations in Gaylord including the public schools, COP, NCCMH, and Northsport Physical Therapy. Spending time with her family and friends is what Donna enjoyed the most in life, along with reading and shopping. Donna was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Surviving Donna are her children Christopher Michael, Gabriel Joseph, and Katherine Ellen (Deron) Green, her sisters Janice (Jim) Petteys of Frankenmuth and Patricia (Jere) Marciniak of Lake LeeLanau, many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many dear friends, including Mary Szymanski, Sue Powers, and Niki Dompier, who shared in her caretaking since her diagnosis with ALS. Donna was preceded in death on Oct. 19th 2014, by the love of her life, Michael Paul, whom she had just celebrated 44 years of marriage with. A Memorial service will be held Wed. Nov. 19th, at 5 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Todd Brunworth officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. also at the church.
