Donald Williams, Sr

Donald E. Williams, Sr., 81, of Mancelona, passed away Friday, October 7, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Donald was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 30, 1929, the son of George and Julia Williams. Don was the Scout Master of the Boy Scouts, on the board of the Mancelona Health Clinic and the Parent Teachers Organizers. He was the Antrim County Building Official. He lived his life spreading his love with hugs. Always a kid at heart, he enjoyed watching the children play. Don is survived by his loving wife, Marye (Lockman) Williams of 62 years. He is also survived by three children, Donald "Jake" Jr. (Joan) Williams of Traverse City, Stacy (Jim) Udell of Mancelona, and Christopher (Mary) Williams of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Donald Williams III, Kendra Udell, Jon Williams, Jim Udell Jr., Ryan Williams and Matthew Williams; 9 great-grandchildren, Ezra, Hailey, Carter, Issac, Elliona, Kiera, Tylar, Kate and a special baby girl due in November; five siblings, Bill Williams, Vera Fuchs, Verna Miller, Carl Williams and Lois Jordan, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Harold, Jerry and one sister, Verda. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, with Pastor Todd Shafer officiating. A Celebration of Don's Life will follow the graveside service at Custer Township Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona Little League, 408 Parkside, Mancelona, MI 49659.
