Donald K. Miller

KALKASKA — Donald Kerwin Miller, 91, of Blue Lake Township, Michigan passed away peacefully February 15, 2025, at his home. Don was born on April 25, 1933, in Mancelona, Michigan, to the late Gurden and Bertha (Webster) Miller.

Don attended Mancelona schools before moving to Detroit with his family. He worked beside his father at Goddard & Goddard and later was Vice President at Panel Controls Corporation for over 30 years. After he retired, he returned to the Kalkaska area. At the age of 10, Don learned to play his sister's guitar, a skill he shared for the next 60 years, especially with family gathered at Vada Watkins' house, playing beside Jerry Watkins on banjo.

He was a marksman with a rifle and loved deer and partridge hunting. He enjoyed relaxing drives through two-tracks in the Jeep and loved riding his Harley with Jenny. A hardworking man all his life, he enjoyed working with his hands and had a talent for building and fixing things.

Don met and married his childhood sweetheart, Virginia "Jenny" (Watkins) Miller, and they were inseparable for 73 years. They traveled all over the country with their very dear friends, Ron and Jean Davis. Don was a devoted father of five girls, Vicky Windish, Valerie Chester, Linda (Tom) Zografos, Laurie Grougan Earl, and Dawn (Ed) Folisi. He was blessed with 27 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Valerie Chester; sons-in-law, Daniel Chester, Rodney Windish, and Ralph Earl; two grandchildren, Kimberly Chester and Eric Chester.

A graveside service will be held on May 15th at Fairview Cemetery North 9958 M-88, Mancelona, Michigan, at 2:00 pm.

Arrangements are in the care of the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
