Donald LePard

DONALD S. LePARD, 90, of Lakes of the North, formerly of Flint, passed away on Wed., April 15, 2009 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. Don was born on July 27, 1918 in Flint, the son of Sumner J. and Florence (Soulby) LePard. On June 12, 1954 in Flint, he married Phyllis Haver who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Jeanette (Richard) Allen of Otisville, MI., Kimberly (Bill Barnes) LePard of Oak Forest, IL., James (Karen) LePard of Gaylord, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a niece Suzanne (Michael) Cape-Guthrie of Okemos, MI., and a nephew Bill (Karen) Cape of Flint. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Virginia Cape. In 1987 he moved to Lakes of the North from Flint. Don was a musician and had many other talents including woodworking, oil painting, and writing. With his talented writing he had four books published. Cremation has taken place through the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. A memorial service will take place on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Two p.m. at the Mancelona United Methodist Church. Rev. Steve Weinberger will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona United Methodist Church or to the Antrim County Commission on Aging.
