Donald Grody

DONALD GRODY, 81, of Mancelona, died on November 24, 2009 at McReynolds Hall in Gaylord. Don was born on October 31, 1928 in Mancelona. Don was a resident of Mancelona most of his life where he was a member of the American Legion George Puckett Post 264 and served as the finance officer. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and enjoyed woodworking, bowling and playing horseshoes. On October 12, 1984 in Bellaire, he married Esther Flanagin who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Donald Jr. (Sharon) Grody of Mancelona, Blossom McMichael of Mancelona, Jane (Rick) Spires of Alden, Carl (Barbara) Grody of Las Vegas, NV, and Elaine (Paul) Panosso of Gaylord. In addition to his children he is survived by 2 brothers, Howard (Shirley) Grody of Mancelona, Jake Grody of East Jordan, 2 sisters, Ilene (Lee) Hubbard of Mancelona, Dorothy (Harry) Richards of Mancelona, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Sylvia, Maxine and Shirley, 4 brothers, Robert, Veril, Wayne and Ernest "Bill" and his parents. Funeral services will take place on Sat., Nov. 28, 2009 at Eleven a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Ross Corne will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona. Visitation will take place on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
