Donald Athearn

Donald L. Athearn, age 83 of Bellaire passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Meadow Brook Care Facility in Bellaire.

Don was born on April 5, 1934 in Bliss Twp., Mi. to Glenn and Nellie (Mann) Athearn. He was raised in Petoskey, and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1952. He was employed through the years as a truck driver at Northern News, Dakota Bake and Serve, and also ran a truck for Allied Van Lines. On June 12, 1963 he married the former Elsie (Lambert). They attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Petoskey and later Cedar Lake Church in Cedar, MI.

Don is survived by his wife Elsie, children; Linda (John) Wormell, Colleen Crain (Dave Russell), Valerie Athearn, Donald II (Jan), Lori (Bill) Jensen, Aaron (Susan), and Kelly (Sadie). Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two sisters Sharon (John) Budek and Cheryl (Terry) Chisholm. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Dean and Harold, and grandchildren; Jennifer Crain, Johnny Shoemaker, and Adam Athearn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Meadow Brook Care Facility, 4543 S. M-88 Hwy Bellaire. Interment will be at Bliss Twp. Cemetery in Pellston. Memorial contributions appreciated to the family c/o Colleen Crain 910 Williams Rd. Traverse City, MI. 49685
