Dolph M. Ottgen, 76, of Bellaire passed away on March 28, 2018 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.
Dolph was born on November 28, 1941 in Mancelona to the late Benjamin and Eunice (Heller) Ottgen.
Dolph served in the United States Army in the 60’s then went to work at Lamina Bronze for 54 years. He enjoyed bowling, deer hunting, farming and driving his tractor. Dolph was a huge MSU fan following all sports. For 38 years Dolph participated in The National Bowling Tournament (USBC) at various places in the United States. He was proud of his five 300 games he bowled through the years.
He is survived by his wife Sarah “Suzie” Ottgen of Bellaire, 4 children, Tonda (Andy) Watrous of Mancelona, Benjamin (Felicia) Ottgen of Suttons Bay, Carl (Trish) Schwabe of Waynetown, IN, Craig (Sheila) Schwabe of Traverse City, 22 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother, Howard (Queen) Ottgen of Mancelona and sister, Alice (Harold) Sanford of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Zachary Schwabe, 3 brothers Don, Ralph and Steve Ottgen, 2 sisters, Helen Hughey and Pat Homan.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Bellaire Community United Methodist Church with Pastor Eric Falker officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday also at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, PO BOX 5312, Akron, Ohio 44334.
