Diane Shafer

Diane Michelle Shafer, 37, of Central Lake, died Friday, December 7, 2012 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

She was born September 5, 1975 in Petoskey, the daughter of James Anthony Zoulek and Nancy Ann Fales.

On August 23, 1997 she married Paul E. Shafer I in South Arm Township. They lived in East Jordan before moving to Central Lake in 2001.

Diane worked at Central Lake Public Schools as a teacher's aid and lunchroom assistant for preschool students. She was very involved in her children's school activities and sports events. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, rock picking, knitting and crocheting, and shopping at Good Samaritan Resale Shop.

Surviving are her husband Paul E. Shafer I; daughters Andrea P. Shafer, Jackelyn R. Shafer, and Veronica A. Shafer all at home, and son Paul E. Shafer II of East Jordan; three grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew and Lukas; her parents Nancy Ann and Michael McGinley of Central Lake and James and Linda Zoulek of East Jordan; brothers Daniel J. Zoulek of Central Lake, David A. Zoulek of Central Lake, Russell L. (Rachel) McGinley of Kalkaska; sisters Donna J. McGinley of St. Louis, MO, Sabrina K. Budzynski of Central Lake; her grandmother Elnor L. LaPeer of East Jordan; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Grace Community Church in Central Lake on Monday, December 10, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, at Grace Community Church with the Rev. Celia M. Hastings officiating. Burial will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.
