Diana Kay Kelly, 63, of Bellaire, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on December 29, 1956 in Bellaire, the daughter of Grant and Barb (Conway) Marshall.
Diana graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids and went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. At the time of her passing, Diana was continuing her education through Fielding Graduate University, and was very near to earning her PhD in Educational Leadership.
On January 20, 1979, she married the love of her life, Ken Kelly, in Bellaire. Diana worked in the Mancelona Public School System for 35 years; 32 of those years spent teaching many different subjects in the elementary and middle schools, and three years as Middle School Principal. She was extremely passionate about her job, and she impacted the lives of many children during her time there. Diana loved to spend as much time as possible with her granddaughter, Kylie. She also enjoyed travelling with Ken, kayaking, and reading.
Diana is survived by her husband of 41 years, Ken Kelly; her daughter, Maggie (Mike) Klopschinski of Bellaire; her granddaughter, Kylie Klopschinski; her mother, Barb Marshall; her brother, Timothy Marshall of Grand Rapids; her sister, Annette Kowall of Alden; her niece Dusty (Lori) Kowall of Milford, MI; and her nephew, Cory Kowall of Alden.
She was preceded in death by her father, Grant Marshall.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral Services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14 also at the funeral home with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mancelona Education Foundation: checks may be made payable to MEF and sent to P.O. Box 586, Mancelona, MI 49659.
