Dian Schaefer

Dian M. Schaefer, 67, of Gaylord, passed away July 13, 2013 at her home. Dian was born August 13, 1945 in Grayling, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Cushaway) Grody. She is survived by her son, Steven (Loretta) Johnson of Lynn Haven, FL; brother, Robert Grody of Port St. Lucie ,FL; sisters, Judy Burley and Tammy (Tod) Odell both of Mancelona; eight grandchildren; her significant other, David Hardy of Gaylord; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Dian had over 25 years of public working experience in the district, area management, or her multiple duties while with the Gaylord Police Department. She then licensed herself as a cosmetologist and successfully opened two salons in Gaylord that she owned and operated with competence, grace and integrity. Her outgoing and enthusiastic love of her son and life itself contented her with a life well led. She was a lady well respected and loved. She will be greatly missed. The memorial service will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona with Pastor Mark McCool officiating.
