Our beautiful earthly father, Desmond E. Milligan, was called home on February 9, 2024 at 3:33 p.m. He was born on January 16, 1931, in Bayshore, NY, the son of Edward and Dorothy (Black) Milligan.
Desmond started coming to Charlevoix when he was 10 or 11 years old. He attended Charlevoix High School as a freshman, but returned home when his father became ill, where he would graduate from Linbrook High School. He was quite an athlete in his younger years; he played football, basketball, baseball, and golfing in Michigan and Texas. Desmond proudly served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. He was also the co-owner of the airport from 1956 to 1969 with his step-father Hank Felix. Our pops had a great life and is now in God's Glory.
Desmond is survived by his three sons, David Harley (Susan) Milligan, Douglas Milligan, and Devon Patrick (Vera) Milligan; his daughter-in-law, Jeneane; two granddaughters, Sabrina and Samantha; three grandsons, David Jr., Daniel, and Jordan; and a great-grandson, Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Florence Milligan who was called home in 2010; and his son, Desmond Edward Milligan II who was called home in 2015.
There are no services planned at this time.
Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
