On Friday, January 25, 2008, Dennis Windish, passed away peacefully at home after a 9 month fight with cancer. He was born on June 24, 1944 in Dundee Twp., MI the son of Paul and Eileen Windish and was raised by Paul and Gerri Windish. Dennis was employed by Antrim County Transportation, retiring in August of 2006. Dennis was loving, kind, quiet and sensitive. He loved woodworking, fishing and of course his TV. The greatest love in his life was his family, which was large. He is survived by his wife Darlene, who he married on January 17, 1987 in Bellaire. He is also survived by his mothers; Gerri Windish of Bellaire and Eileen Wolf of Sawyer, Ok; 6 sons: Greg (Tami) Burnett of L'Anse, Rod (Lisa) Burnett of Branswick, GA, Bob Burnett of Waynesville, GA, Bryan (Fefe) Sehl of Mancelona, Clifford (Cindy) Sehl of Talking Rock, GA and Dennis (Crystal) Windish of Central Lake; 4 daughters: Rhonda (Tony) Verstrat of Mancelona, Candy (Dan) Goltz of Kewadin, Angela (Daryl) Purdy and Tamara Disbrow of Central Lake; brothers: Dick (Sue) Windish of San Jacinto, CA, Doug (Kathy) Baker of Dearborn Hts., Randy (Sherry) Windish, Ron (Connie) Windish, Roger (Sandy) Windish, Rocky (Jennifer) WIndish, Rory (Lisa) Windish and Ryan Windish all of Mancelona, Jeff, Bobby, and Teddy Wolf of New Mexico; sisters: Charlotte (Richard) Kler, Gloria Allen of Mancelona, Gail Light of Shinnston, WV, Sharon (Bill) Shrimplin of Shelby Twp., Karen (Jim) Boland of Ocala, FL, and Jennifer of Sawyer, OK; sister-in-laws: Vicki Windish of Williamsburg, Judy Windish of Wyoming, and Arlyn Harris of Mancelona; special friends: Don Marshal and Dorothy Biglow of Bellaire; 19 grand children: Danielle (Doug) Klee, Misti (Todd) Mapes, Andy and Lissa Stamp, Angel (Bem) Minor, Bob Burnett Jr., Shawnean Burnett, Ben and Katie Burnett, Jennifer and Randy Verstrat, Rona and Cody Sehl, Lindsey Sehl, Courtney and Tiffany Goltz, Caleb and Hayley Windish, Mia Disbrow and Garrett Purdy; 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his father Paul Windish, wife Velma (Payton) Windish, twin sister Donna and sister Paulette Pendergras, brothers Ricky and Rod Windish and granddaughter Ashley Goltz. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008, 7 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Dave Scott officiating.
