Delma I. Charbonneau,  95, of Bellaire, formerly of Central Lake, passed away on May 10, 2019 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.

Delma was born on January 25, 1924, in Bay City, MI, the daughter of Raymond and Mabel (LeClair) Lauria.

Delma was raised in Kawkawlin, MI, with a large, devout Catholic family.  She then married and had a large family of her own having 8 children.  At a young age, Delma was widowed and left to raise her children alone.  It was her faith and strong family values that got her through and successfully raised them all to be fine adults.

When she moved to northern Michigan she was employed at Mrs. Pete’s restaurant in Bellaire, worked at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility and was a Senior Companion.

She enjoyed canning, baking, sewing, crocheting, going to the casino as well as numerous board games.

Delma is survived by 7 children, William Charbonneau of Bellaire, Tom (Julie) Charbonneau of Fla, Tim (Grace) Charbonneau of Kingsley, MI, Sharon (Seumas) Gardner of Ellsworth, Mary “Bert” Douglas of Central Lake, Ken Charbonneau of Ellsworth, Joan Hummer of Jackson, MI, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Charbonneau, son Michael Charbonneau, daughter-in-law Shelley Charbonneau, many siblings and her parents.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire.

Burial will be on Thursday, May 16 at 11 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Kawkawlin, MI.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the family.
