Dee Ann Rothenberger, 79, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2019.

Dee Ann was born on July 13, 1939, in Charlevoix, MI, to Dan Geneit and Beth Heise.  She was born and raised in Charlevoix.  On August 27, 1960, she married the love of her life, Carl Rothenberger, in Charlevoix, MI, and they were married for 58 incredible years. Dee Ann attended Central Michigan University for both her Bachelors degree and Master’s degree in education.  She taught for 31 years, retiring in 1993.  Teaching wasn’t just a job to Dee Ann; it was her passion, she truly looked forward to going to work every single day.  As well as teaching, Dee Ann was involved in her community by volunteering.  She volunteered at Blood Drives, the Rainbow Shop in Charlevoix, and the Charlevoix Humane Society.  Dee Ann’s kind soul shown in everything she did, especially in her love of animals.

Surviving Dee Ann is her husband Carl Rothenberger of Charlevoix, daughter Danya “Lyn” (Chris) Drost of Charlevoix, and son Carl III (Karen) Rothenberger of Fruitport.  Six loving grandchildren, Taya (Joel) Schick, Taryn (Mark) Yager, Shayna (Tim) Partridge, Janay Drost, Ana Rothenberger, and Asia Rothenberger.  Along with nine loving great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Beth.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix, 100 Oak St., Charlevoix, MI 49720.  Pastor Chip Sauer will officiate.

A private interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery, in Charlevoix, Michigan at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Charlevoix County Humane Society, 614 Beardsley St., Boyne City, MI 49712
