Debra Smith

Debra Jean Smith, 59, of Bellaire, passed away on Monday June 24, 2019 at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.  She was born on November 20, 1959 in Bellaire, MI, the daughter of Dorr and Betty (Martin) Mason.

On August 18, 1989, she married her husband Arion Smith in Severna Park, MD.  They raised their three children together in Bellaire. Debra loved babies and taking care of people which was evidenced by the daycare she ran for over twenty years.  When she wasn’t spending time with the kids, she enjoyed cooking and reading. She will also be remembered for her strong Christian faith.

Debra is survived by her husband; three children, Shawn (Zabrina) Smith of West Bountiful, UT, Andrew (Lisa) Smith of Bellaire, and Sherri (Joseph) Laisure of Portland, MI; three brothers, Roger (Terry) Mason of Bellaire, Rich Mason of Bellaire, and George (Cindy) Mason of Bellaire; three sisters, Kay Mason of Bellaire, Sherri (Dan) McIntosh of Bellaire, and Becky (Dave) Corbin of Bellaire; three grandchildren, Oliver Smith, Amelia Smith, and Abigail Laisure; and her mother-in-law, Ellynore Smith of Wellton, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her father-in-law, Delano Smith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Fresh Start Wesleyan Church in Bellaire.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
