Deborah Smalley

Deborah L. Smalley, 64 of Boyne City passed away on November 28, 2018 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Deborah was born on February 24, 1954 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Erwin E. Smalley and Barbara A. (Reeb) Ledyard. She attended Ironton School, Charlevoix Public School and Petoskey Public School. Deborah was employed at the Bergmann Center from 1981 until 2013 and was a member of the Charlevoix Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed watching and re-watching the Dukes of Hazzard, The Three Stooges and Mork and Mindy. She loved to joke around and tease the workers at the home where she resided.

Deborah is survived by her step-mom, Patricia Smalley, sister, Linda Sweeney, half-sister, Darlene (John) Harris, step-brother, Jeffrey (Renee) Popenhagen Sr., nieces and nephews, Jasper Sweeney, Tawnya Bennett, Christine Speer, Jeffrey Popenhagen Jr., Joshua Popenhagen, Brittany Harris, Danyne Lambert and Colleen Harris. She is also survived by many loved aunts, uncles and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Erwin Smalley, mother, Barbara Ledyard, brother, Larry Smalley, nephew Brandon Popenhagen and great niece Penelope.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with interment at Undine Cemetery following. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service also at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Deborah’s name may be directed to the Bergmann Center, Charlevoix Church of the Nazarene or to the family.
