David Larkin

David James Larkin, 68, of Bellaire passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at his home with his loving wife by his side.  He was born on March 15, 1951 in Flint, MI, the son of James and Sara Ida (Reed) Larkin.

David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  He loved spending time outdoors. His favorite way to savor God’s creation was by fishing, especially ice fishing.  He also liked to read, and enjoyed his job driving for Antrim County Transportation. On February 22, 1976, David married Kathryn Smith-Dankert, who survives, in Detroit, MI.

Also surviving David are his two children, Geoffrey Dankert (Ron Hall) of Chicago, IL, and Elizabeth Ellen (Tim) Vogan of Portland, OR; his father, James Larkin of Mt. Morris, MI; his brother, James (Melanie) Larkin of Fort Wayne, IN; and his two sisters, Stephanie Larkin of Mt. Morris, MI, and Stacie (Jon) Moody of Mt. Morris, MI.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Idaline Larkin; and his brother, Douglas Larkin.

Funeral services will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 12 at St.Paul’s Episcopal Church, 403 Traverse St. , Elk Rapids, MI 49629 with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Rev. C. Anne Hallmark will officiate. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, January 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, 106 S. Bridge St., Bellaire, MI 49615.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
