David Butler

DAVID A. BUTLER, 91, of Bellaire, passed away on February 13, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and the wonderful, caring staff at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Dave was born on December 29, 1921 in Bellaire, the son of James and Elizabeth (Bush) Butler. Dave Honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards with friends and family, going to the casino and was a lifelong member of the Area Seniors, lifelong member of the V.F.W. Torch post #6985 in Central Lake as well as the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church. He is survived by 3 sons, William Butler of Bellaire, Rick Butler of Traverse City, Greg (Mary) Butler of Bellaire, 3 daughters, Karen Lewis of Jackson, MI., Kay (Jim) Wrock of Wyandotte, MI., Carrie (Joe) Hebden of Bellaire, a brother Lloyd (Hilda) Butler of Elk Rapids, a special friend Bonnie Lewis, 11 grandchildren, Kathy, Jim, Kevin, Keith, Kim, Nathan, Nick, Bill, Kendra, Katie and Ryan as well as a great-granddaughter Kensington, along with other great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther in 2007, 3 brothers, Gilbert, Vernon, and James, 4 sisters, Eula Rauch, Eunice Hinckle, Elizabeth Louisell, Anise DeNoyer and his parents, along with a son David Butler. Services with military honors will take place on Tuesday, February 19 at 12:00 noon at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Carl Litchfield will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility, C/O New Fishing Pond Project, 4543 South M-88 Highway, Bellaire, MI., 49615.
