David Barber

David Leroy Barber, 62, of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. David was born May 25, 1948 in Helena Township Alden, Michigan, the son of Guy and Mary Jane (Gaylord) Barber. David proudly served his country in the United States Navy while being stationed on the U.S.S. Forrestal for 4 years. He loved hunting and fishing. Most of all, his pride and joy was his family. He was a building Contractor. On August 21, 1970, David married Marilyn (Sehl) Barber who survives. Also surviving are 3 children David (Scarlet) Barber of Gaylord, Michigan, Candace (Joseph II) Baker of Bellaire, Michigan, Barney (Jacklyn) Barber of Alden, Michigan; 3 granddaughters Kaitlyn, Mystina and MaKayla; a new grand baby on the way; father Guy Barber; grandmother Pearl Sehl; siblings William (Frances) Barber, Jane (Jerry) Roth, Kenneth (Cynthia) Barber and Kathryn (Pat) Fryer; special friends Don and Sandi Lambert; brother-in-law Edward Doc (Missy) Sehl. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jane Barber, brother Rodger Barber, grandparents Merle and Carrie Barber and William and Nina Gaylord; father-in-law Fredrick Henry Sehl and a grandparent John Pete Sehl. Memorial services will take place at the Alden United Methodist Church on Friday, September 17, 2010, at 11:00 A.M, with Rev. Howard Seaver and Rev. Daniel Biteman officiating. Interment will follow at Helena Township Cemetery with Military Honors. The luncheon will be at the South Torch Lake Fire Department on Helena Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barber Grandchildren for their college fund through the Alden Bank at P.O. Box 39, Alden, MI 49612.
