Darryl Bolanowski, of Mancelona, Michigan, age 69, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014, at The Villages Regional Hospital in The Villages, Florida, after a long and courageous fight with several different illnesses. Darryl served in the National Guard and was federalized during the Detroit Riots. He later became a member of the American Legion. He worked at Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea for 33 years as a test driver mechanic and also served as a volunteer on the Star Township Fire Department for the past eight years. Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Gay; four children: Debbie (James) Waite of Hubbardston, MI, Michell Milligan of Riverview, MI, Deanna Eggers of Stockbridge, MI, and David (Colleen) Bolanowski of Eagle River, WI; four siblings: Darlene (Gary) Johnson, Donna Lesser, Delphine Goodrich, and Dwight Bolanowski; nine grandchildren: Danelle, Nolan, Cody, Ryan, Brandon, Jacob, Joshua, Hayley, and Isabella; and one great-grandchild, Hunter, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his father Walter, mother Delphine, and a sister that died at birth. The family will receive friends at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, on Friday, July 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the Mortensen Funeral Home, Mancelona, on Sunday, July 20, from 2-6 p.m. A Graveside Service will take place at the Star Township Cemetery, Alba, on Monday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Star Township Fire Department or Stockbridge Area Emergency Services Authority (SAESA).
