Darleen Shafer

Darleen Dale Shafer (Hersha), passed away Thursday the 19th of October at home. She was born on April 30, 1942, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Frank and Jessie Hersha.
On January 23, 1962, she married Alfred J. Shafer in Alba and they made their home in Echo Township. Darleen spent her time raising her four daughter and farming along side her husband. Her family was her pride and joy, she enjoyed being a homemaker for her children and later enjoying time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, bingo, genealogy and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Duane) Arnott, Karen (Robert) Herrmann, Brenda (Tim) Kassuba and Kimberlyn Shafer. Grandkids, Julie (Bill) Roberts, Justin Arnott, Timothy Kassuba, Brittany (Nathan) Mikolowski, Michael Kassuba, Jennifer (Shannon) White and Katelynn Hermann. Her great grandchildren, Litti Roberts, Matthew, Roberts, Nathaniel Roberts, Jessica,Pattenaude, Jorja Pattenaude, Jonah Pattenaude, Keeva Cassells, Kelsea Kassuba, Kaleb Kassuba, Paisley Arnott, Mason Milolowski and Parker Force. Also surviving are siblings, Virginia Prevo, Fawnlee (Don) Shepard, Lorraine Hoisington, Beverly Stokes and Raymond (Jucille) Hersha. Darleen is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Alfred, sibling, Donna Finch, Frances Pearcey, Alberta Dunson-Corner, Loretta Hersha, Elra Hersha and Hugh Hersha.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 23, 2017, 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon at the Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth. Private interment will be in Dunsmore Cemetery, Echo Township, Antrim County, Michigan.
