Danny James Woodworth, 65 of Elmira, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday May 3, 2017. He was born on October 9th, 1951 in Durand Michigan, the son of James and Irene Woodworth. He grew up in the New Lothrop and Byron, Michigan. He graduated from Byron High School and attended college at North Central Michigan College. To follow in his grandfather and father's footsteps he worked for General Motors, Buick Division for a short time. He joined the US Navy in 1970 to work his way up in ranks to Deep Sea Chief Navy Diver and retired in 1989. Danny was a man of many talents and interests. After retiring from the Navy he started a computer repair business, was a volunteer fire fighter, and then went on to work and retire from the State of Michigan as a Computer Technician. He met the love of his life, Linda in 1975 and married in 1976. His family was the most important thing to him. Left to celebrate his life and cherish his memories are his loving soul mate and best friend, Linda Deann (Richards) Woodworth, his son David Woodworth and Mellissa (Russell) Woodworth and their two children Anna and Sarah, his daughter Amanda (Woodworth) Burl and Jason Burl and their two children Deanne and Griffin, and his loving sister Nancy (Woodworth) Bauer. Preceding in his death, his father James Woodworth and mother Irene Ritter.
Danny (aka Woody, Chief, Diver Dan, Dadio, Crazy Man, Unk, Brother, and SuperMan) was the type of man that would always give a helping hand; who loved his family, country, Harley Davidsons, guns of any type, and our Lord Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed playing pranks on people, hunting of any kind, riding his Low Rider, watching the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and many game shows. He was also known to always have an encouraging word for others and helped those fighting cancer along with him. When asked if there was anything he wished he would've done or seen his answer was NO. What an amazing life to lead to be able to have done everything you ever dreamed of doing. One of Danny's requests was that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Legion.
