Twenty eight is just a number.

It's not a life. It's not fair. Any death of someone so young is a tragic loss.

It's often that we wait until a loved one is gone that we tell the world what a wonderful person they were. Today we are wanting to tell the world a little about Danny.

Danny had a smile that was just about as warm as the sun. It was contagious, too. It was almost impossible to be unhappy when he was around. His mom might say he had his moments, but she'd also say that Danny was the sweetest boy on earth. His presence was impossible to ignore. He was gentle, kind and giving. He was giving of his time with others; always helping out a friend, helping his mom with one of her many projects, hanging with his nephew, River, who he could make full on belly laugh at any time. Danny loved spending time with his family. He was loving and he was real. He would call anyone out on their bullshit, but then take the time to help them figure it out. While the rest of us had so much to whine about, Danny was always the optimistic one.

Danny loved all things outdoors. He played baseball his whole life and went on to play at Ferris State University. He golfed, he loved playing volleyball on the beach. Danny had a rare and enthusiastic appreciation for the outdoors. He was a fisherman and a hunter. Even in the cold Michigan winter he loved being outside, skiing, snow shoeing and playing hockey.

His incredible spirit will live on through his family and many friends. His parents. Through Amy and Eddie, through River. His cousins, Calvin, Sarah, Andrew, Dalton, Reed, Brent and Evan.

His heart reached so many, he and his bear hugs will be greatly missed.

Rest easy, Danny Boy.
