Daniel Gentle

Daniel T. Gentle of Beaver Island passed away on October 29, 2017 at his home.

Dan was born August 16, 1954 in Bay City, Michigan to Rita (Norlock) and the late Thomas Gentle Sr.

Dan fell in love at first sight with Beaver Island. He went to the island for a visit and decided to stay so he was blessed to be able to call Beaver Island his home for the last 30 years. Dan enjoyed hunting as well as woodworking. He was a true craftsman who even built the church steeple at St. James Episcopal Church on Beaver Island.

Dan is survived by his mother, Rita Gentle of Bay City, sisters, Mary Lee (Brian) Techlin of Bay City, Anne (Rick) Schooley of Sanford, brother Thomas (Theresa) Gentle of St. Michaels, MN, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Gentle and brother Mark Gentle.

A memorial service will be held at a later date on Beaver Island and burial will follow at Beaver Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Dan’s memory may be directed to a charity of choice.
