Daniel Corbin

Dan Corbin, 70, Charlevoix resident since 1976, passed through this life on April 17, leaving behind an often tough road to hoe.  He achieved independent living for many years, despite health challenges with Schizophrenia and later Parkinson’s disease.  Dan was a gentle soul.  Charlevoix North Country Community Mental Health, Petoskey Club, and the Community Reformed Church, all helped Dan find welcoming surroundings. Dan found home cooked meals at Dianne Penfold’s assisted living home where he helped with chores and errands in his younger years.  He enjoyed being outdoors when working at Marvin’s Gardens, watering plants and enjoying the sun.  Dan’s three sisters live out of state and shared many breakfasts with Dan at Safe Haven Ministries Community Breakfasts.  All will miss visits with Dan, especially at Dianne’s home full of warmth and a curious assortment of animals.  Dan was predeceased by his parents, James and Margrethe (Baver) Corbin, and brothers David and Charles Corbin.  He is survived by sisters Pauline (Marlin) Mittag of Aurora, Illinois, Katheryn Corbin, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Laura (Steve) Grijalva of Tucson, Arizona and many nieces and nephews.  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on June 5 after the Community Breakfast at the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix. Arrangements are being handled by the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
