Daniel Atkinson

Daniel L. Atkinson, 72, of Mancelona, passed away September 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 20, 1941 in Mancelona, the son of Arley and Melvena Atkinson. He enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time outdoors with family and friends. He and his wife attended St. Anthony Catholic Church for many years. On September 3, 1960 in Detroit, he married Judy Ostrowski who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Mark (Rebecca) Atkinson of Rapid City and Glen Atkinson of Mancelona; four grandchildren, Heather, Brandon, Emily and Nathan; one great-grandson, Jacob; and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Arley 'Jim' Atkinson and his niece, Susan Atkinson. A funeral mass will be Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Dale Magoon officiating. The burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
