Dan Louiselle

Dan Gene Louiselle, 73, of Charlevoix, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 following a short battle with cancer. He was born on August 18, 1949 in Charlevoix, the son of Thomas and Janet (Webster) Louiselle.

Dan graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1967.  He worked as a mechanic for many years, including owning his own service station until deciding to go into the trucking business.  Dan was never more at home than when he was behind the wheel of a semi-truck.  In his younger years he enjoyed sponsored motorcycle racing and has many trophies to show for it as well as drag racing in his own cars. In 1990, he retired so he could be his son Andrew’s full-time caregiver. He spent the last 33 years making sure he had everything he needed.  Dan loved riding his Harley all around Northern Michigan. He also liked buying and selling classic cars and taking them to local car shows and was an avid collector of scale model cars, trucks, semi-trucks and motorcycles.

Dan is survived by two sons, Brad (Cheryl) Louiselle and Andrew Louiselle; four grandchildren, Michalla Louiselle, Sierra Louiselle, Maureen Vallance, and Jay Gray; seven great-grandchildren, Aleigha, Owen, Harley, Benson, Gracey, Payshence, and Fayte; and two siblings, Thomas (Linda) Louiselle and Joan Balch.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8 at Center Point Assembly of God, 5291 M-66, Charlevoix, MI 49720.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
