Cynthia Hart

Cindy Hart, 73 of Central Lake and formerly of Traverse City, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 10, 2014. Cynthia Joyce Hart was born Aug. 8, 1941 in Traverse City, to the late Jonas and Naomi (Hooker) Neihardt. On Sept. 9, 1961, Cindy married Jim Hart of Grand Ledge, in Asbury Methodist Church in Traverse City. They shared life's adventure from then on. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as by her aunt Norma Burdick and cousin, David Aldridge. Survivors include her husband Jim, their sons Gary (Beth) Hart of Murphysboro, IL and Dave (Jennifer) Hart and their sons Leif and Eric, all of Carbondale, IL. Cindy's family was the joy of her life. Other survivors include her sister Beverly (Jerry) Lardie and brother Joe (Joanne) Neihardt all of Traverse City as well as her cousin Elaine (Terry) Harmon of High Lake, MI. Betty Glasgow of Central Lake has been a great friend and comfort over the years, as well. She attended grade and high school in Traverse City and graduated in 1959. She earned her undergraduate degree in special education/speech correction while attending Central Michigan University and completing her degree requirements and graduating from Michigan State University. Cindy earned her Master's degree in Elementary education from Ball State University in Munice, IN. Cindy taught grade school and worked with children while living in California, Indiana, as well as at the Tehran American School in Tehran, Iran, finishing her career at Central Lake Elementary School in Central Lake. Cindy always enjoyed simple pleasures and activities, including camping amid the scent of pine trees and wood smoke, skiing, travel, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, having all her people around her. Also, it made her feel so good to continue to be able to contribute to the welfare of children, knitting and donating stocking caps and baby blankets. Cindy lived with Multiple Sclerosis, cancer and related conditions for a lengthy period of time. Her husband Jim's skilled, selfless care and their devotion to each other are examples to their family and everyone they knew. The family gives special thanks to Munson Hospice House and Seniors Helping Seniors, for the professionalism, compassion and loving care for our wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Also, our deepest gratitude to those who helped led her to the Holy Spirit. Cindy accepted The Lord Jesus Christ into her heart as her Savior on Sun. April 13, 2014. Per her wishes, Cindy Hart will be cremated and there will be no services. Memorials may be made to Munson Hospice House in Traverse City, or Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility, in Bellaire. Arrangements have been handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
