Constance May Hughey

Constance May Hughey, 89 of Central Lake, entered into the Lord’s Kingdom Saturday, December 9, 2023 and is now rejoicing with the angels.  She was born September 8, 1934 in Antrim County the daughter of King O. and Nora M. (Wilson) Smith.

   Connie was a dedicated member of the Central Lake Bible Baptist Church.  She served her parish in many active roles over the years.  She especially loved to sing and praise through music and she often hosted Bible study at her home.  Connie was very hospitable and often entertained her family and friends.

   On September 14, 1952 she married Ashley C. Hughey who preceded her in death in 1999.  Also preceding her in death are her grandchildren John Russell Smith, Krimson Hughey, brothers Gene, Elton, Douglas, Theodore and William Smith, sisters Barbara Koutnik, and Marilyn Ziegler.
 

   Left to cherish her memory are her children Barbara (John Kennedy ) Smith, Phillip (Maureen) Hughey, Kurt (Christine Fox) Hughey, Tony (Dianna) Hughey, brother King O. (Martha Jean) Smith Jr, sisters Caroline Pfund, Rosalie (Michael) Pippin, grandchildren Michael (Keri) Smith, Kisha (Michael) Russell, Brandi (Samba) Saidy, Kurt, Benjamin, Christopher, Joshua, Abigail, and Hannah Hughey, great grandchildren Camille Stumm, John Patrick and Ella Catherine Smith, Fionna, Jadon, Thane, and Elliot Russell, Hannah and Josephine Saidy, Gabriella and Willow Hughey, Jacquelline Grace Hughey, and many nieces and nephews.

   A memorial service will be held at the Central Lake Bible Baptist Church on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Dunsmore Cemetery, Echo Township.
