CLYDE S. NILES JR., 75, of Mancelona, died on September 10, 2008 at Munson Medical Center. Clyde was born on June 2, 1933 in Detroit, the son of Clyde S. Sr. and Helen (Bieber) Niles. Clyde was a Mancelona resident since 1996 where previously he lived in Garden City for many years. While living in Garden City he was employed by Ford Motor as a research engineer. He was an ordained minister and was a member of the Cornerstone Community Bible Church in Kalkaska. He had been an amateur radio operator since the age of 14 and enjoyed building and playing his pipe organ. On June 18, 1955 in Greenfield Village, he married Kathleen N. Vanek who survives. Also surviving are two children, a daughter Cheryl Meadows of Farmington Hills, a son David (Theresa) Niles of Northville and three grandchildren, Sean Niles, Carrie Meadows and Amy (Matt) Taylor. Funeral services will be held on Sat., Sept. 13, 2008 at Eleven a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Richard VanBeek will officiate. The family will receive friends Fri. Sept. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. Entombment will take place in Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland, Michigan.
