Clinton Olds

Clinton Durward Olds, 79, of Lakes of the North passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by loved ones.  He was born on August 2, 1940 in Alba, MI the son of Carl and Virgie (Shoup) Olds.

Clinton graduated from Alba High School in 1959 and began working in Mancelona at Adrian’s Tool and Die.  He served in the United States Army as a tank driver.  Shortly after his separation from the military, he met Yvonne Roush and the two wed on April 19, 1969 in Carson City, MI.  In 1977, they moved North to the family farm to raise their family.  He worked at Summa Harrison Metal Products in Mancelona for many years.

He loved the outdoors and had many hobbies that would get him outside.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping (especially in the UP), and making maple syrup as part of the 4th generation in his family.  He also spent a lot of time gardening and farming at his house. He was a member at the Mancelona United Methodist Church.

Clinton is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Olds; four children, Cynthia Hardy of Greenville, Penny (Scott) Coon of Alba, Steve Olds of Alba, and Stephanie (Bryan) Kotsch of Kalkaska; a brother, Donald (Sonja) Olds of Central Lake; four sisters, Cecil Woodward of Alba, Margaret Bock of Alba, Lois VonSoosten of East Jordan, and Valeria Russnell of Alba; sister-in-law, Donna Olds; six grandchildren, Kim (Dawayne) Peterman of Stanton, Josh Hardy of Greenville, Scott Coon II of East Jordan, Misty (Luke) Nieman of Alba, Randy Hoogerhyde of Traverse City, and BreeAnne Hoogerhyde of Mancelona; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lloyd Olds; and a sister, Donna Kooistra.

A funeral service will take place at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 12:00 noon, with visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of service.  Interment to follow at Star Township Cemetery in Alba.
