Claude R. Roux, 72, of Bellaire, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 18, in his home, near his beloved wife Mary Anne. The couple had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary September 13 with their sons.
Claude came into this world on March 14, 1936, in Redford, Michigan. He attended Catholic schools in Redford and Canada, went to apprentice school in carpentry, as did his brothers, following in their dad's footsteps. He went into the USMC in 1953, spent three years in Okinawa and Japan during and at the end of the Korean conflict.
In 1956, Claude met Mary Anne, and they married September 13, 1958. They made their home South, first in Huntsville, Alabama on the then Redstone missile program now NASA, and this was where four sons were born. They moved to the Dallas, Texas area to continue to raise their family in Rockwall. They were special years filled with so many memories, including a sabbatical for one year sailing their ketch from Florida to the Bahamas. Claude was so very proud of each of his sons and "daughters," grandchildren, and great grandson. He began his own business in electronics as a manufacturers' representative, then as national sales manager in test and lab equipment, retiring from his own business in Arlington.
In 2002, Claude and Mary Anne moved to Bellaire, having made a decision to be here for her parents in their later years. Claude loved being on their lake, coffee on their deck, and making their cottage into a permanent home. Claude was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 27 years.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Nathe & Eva Roux, brother, Denis Roux, daughter-in-law, Cindy Roux, and parents-in-law, Joseph & Marie Nichols. He is survived by his dear wife, Mary Anne of Bellaire, sons, Steve (Kama) Roux, of Rockwall, Texas, David (Shannon) Roux, of Garland, Texas, Joseph Roux, of Quinlan, Texas, Christopher Roux, of Denver, Colorado, granddaughter, Angela Roux (Walker Carver), grandson, Nathan Roux, great-grandson, Dalton Roux, all of Royse City, Texas, step granddaughter, Samantha (Clint) Chapman, step great-granddaughter, Emma Chapman all of Arizona, and step grandson, Timothy Sykes who is serving in Iraq, brothers Gerald (Josephine) Roux of Auburn, Washington, Roland (Gayle) Roux of O'Brien, Oregon, and his beloved dog, Cocoa. He leaves his and Mary Anne's uncle & aunt, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many, many caring friends and family.
