Christopher A. Jenkins, a lifelong resident of Gaylord, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the age of 40.
He was born April 1, 1977 the son of Ronald and Sally (Price) Jenkins, and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1995. He graduated from Lake Superior State with a degree in psychology and continued to pursue his education currently working on his master’s degree in behavior analysis with emphasis on autism.
Chris worked for the last several years at the COP ESD working with severely disabled children and young adults. He also worked many years at the Friendship Shelter before it closed. He truly made a difference in the lives of others.
In his free time Chris loved to play golf. He was also an avid sports fan especially when it came to U of M football and the Detroit Lions. Chris was an active member and trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving Chris is the love of his life, Jodi Bennett Jenkins and his dear sweet children Tanner and Celia. He is also survived by his parents Ron and Sally, his brother Doug (Becky) and their children Olivia and Adalyn, his in-laws Tom and Sue Bennett, uncles John (Peggy), Roger, Don (Stacy), Bob (Carol), Rick (Sharon), Doug (Angela), aunts Pam (Scott) and LaShawn (Pat), step grandmother Midge Price, grandmother in-law Cecelia Babinchak, and many cousins as well as several of Jodi’s aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several uncles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4, at noon at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Gaylord with Pastor Dan Bowman officiating. Visitation will start at 11 a.m. and a luncheon will follow. A private interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to an autism charity of one’s choice or to the family for the children’s education.
